 1)  One Cool Tool! – Introducing the Y Pole for Shelter Workers and ACOs.  (article)

This is a thorough introduction to the Y pole – an essential tool for animal shelters.  Every animal shelter should have these ready.  If fear-aggressive dogs must be handled, handle them in a calm, kind, compassionate, and successful way.  This article was published in the HSUS Animal Sheltering Magazine. 5 pp.

2) How to Make a Y Pole (handout)

Simple to follow instructions to making your own Y pole.  Requires finding an aluminum welder.  Sources for buying Y poles are also listed. 1p.

3)  The Basics of Boxtrapping (handout)

Learn the proper methods for successfully catching dogs with boxtraps.

Understand principles for placing the foot in the right spot!  Read tricks for catching specific and fearful dogs.  Based on the use of the Tru Catch 48F Folding Dog Trap. 2pp.

4) Capture Pens for Humanely Catching Packs of Dogs (e-book)

Learn how to build, bait, and set a portable chainlink capture pen for catching entire dog packs.  The most I have caught is 17 dogs at one time.  Learn principles for safely and humanely working inside the pen to handle the dogs.   Apply the same principles for making your own colony traps where ever you live.  Please only use this capture method in the most compassionate and thoughtful way. 4 pp.
